Welcome to Prince Edward Island—Canada’s smallest province and home to the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). Staff and faculty are gearing up for another exciting academic year as we continue to focus on the enhancement of student supports and improving the overall student experience so that all students feel at home. When better supported by the campus community, students will achieve success.

At UPEI, we welcome students from over 60 countries around the world, and offer international student exchange opportunities with many institutions worldwide. On Friday, August 29, the University devotes a full day to welcome international and exchange students to campus through the International Student Orientation (ISO) event. Students are encouraged to attend a breakfast with ice breaker games, a picnic, city and scenic tours, and evening activities. Students will also learn about the International Student Connections “Buddy” Program that offers assistance for a smooth transition by matching new students with returning local or international students. “Buddies” help students adapt to a new country, culture, and environment. ISO is an opportunity for students to meet international peers and support staff before diving into Orientation Week (O-Week), a packed schedule of welcome events for all incoming UPEI students.

To help ease the changes of both University life and moving to a new country, UPEI also offers a free airport pick-up program for international and exchange students. Students are required to fill out a form with their flight details, and then can rest assured that a friendly face will welcome them to Prince Edward Island and help them begin their new journey.
